The Indus Valley civilization flourished from c. 2600 B.C to c. 2000 B.C and it was one of the earliest civilizations. The Aryans were the first to enter into India, and took possession over the land. Sanskrit and Vedic religion were introduced and spread throughout northern India.

India is ranked as the seventh largest country in the world and the second most populated grand country. India is looked upon as a sub-continent rather than a country.

India is diversified into different languages, cultures and different historical backgrounds. The official name is the Republic of India and the Indians call the country as India. The other two names outside India are Hindustan and Bharat.

Ethnic faiths, customs, folk arts, fine arts have been the main melting pots of art and culture. Few places have resounding varieties of festivals, dance and sculpture. The people are diversified in their life styles and resources of Indian art and culture.
